About SDT - East Africa Swing

The Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing (SDT–EAS) is a development golf tour organized by South Africa's Sunshine Tour in collaboration with Golf Plus with the aim of expanding professional golf across East Africa by providing a clear pathway for local and regional players to the global stage.

Launched in 2025 as part of the Sunshine Tour's developmental arm, the East Africa Swing welcomes golfers from across the African continent for world-class tournaments in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania. The Tour offers Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) as well as World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points – both crucial for Olympic Games qualification, and which contribute to a player's progression into higher-ranked international tournaments.

At its heart, the East Africa Swing is about opportunity and development. By hosting tournaments across the region, the Tour gives professional and elite amateur golfers the chance to compete in high-quality, competitive events without needing to travel overseas. This reduces barriers, nurtures talent within the region, and creates a stronger golfing ecosystem across Africa.

Beyond the greens and fairways, the SDT - EAS works hand in hand with national golf unions, local golf clubs, sponsors, and governments to grow the sport sustainably. The events bring significant benefits to host communities, stimulating tourism, showcasing the beauty of regional golf courses, and creating opportunities for local businesses through sports events.

The East Africa Swing is also about inclusivity.
